Pool types can generally be divided into two models: skimmer and overflow systems.
Overflow pools
Overflow pools use a water recovery and filtration system along with a perimeter slot that channels water into a balance tank used to maintain a constant water level. Through a pump and a filtration system, the water circulates in the pool through water inlets installed in the floor or walls. This system allows a more natural effect, as the water gently spills over the whole perimeter of the pool, ensuring it remains very clean despite resembling a sheet of glass.
Skimmer pools
Skimmer pools use openings built into the side of the pool, just below the surface of the water. The water is sucked into the skimmer mouth and channelled into the filtration system by a pump before being recirculated into the pool.
The water level in this case will remain between 5 and 15 cm below the pool edge, depending on the skimmer model.
Types of filtration
Which filter to choose? The filter is the key element of any filtration system, with various types available on the market. What is the best filtration system for a pool? In truth, every filter has its own advantages and drawbacks. Sand and cartridge filtration systems are especially favoured by pool owners. The selection criteria can be based on the fineness of particle filtration, the time required for cleaning, or water consumption.
